Enroll Virginia – Affordable Care Act Update

The open enrollment period for the Health Insurance Marketplace ended on January 31st, and millions of Americans were able to renew or gain health insurance coverage before this deadline. In Virginia, demand remained strong throughout Open Enrollment and 410,726 Virginians were enrolled in health coverage through the Marketplace.

Navigators with Enroll Virginia directly assisted more than 13,000 Virginians during this open enrollment period. We helped consumers complete applications and enroll in plans, provided information about the Affordable Care Act and other health insurance options in Virginia, and provided referrals to other health resources.

We are proud of a team who consistently go the extra mile to provide quality, accessible and thorough help to communities around Virginia. A woman from the Roanoke area recently wrote,

“Lois (an Enroll Virginia Navigator with Legal Aid Society of Roanoke Valley) was tremendous in her willingness to extend herself as a troubleshooter and advocate.”

Another consumer in Woodbridge wrote,

“I wanted to express my gratitude to Enroll Virginia. I needed to enroll for healthcare. I was so overwhelmed when I went on the website. I just did not know what to do… She (Melissa, an Enroll Virginia navigator with Legal Services of Northern Virginia) answered every question that I had and was caring and compassionate with me.  I was desperate for coverage, and she helped to show me the different options.”

Our commitment to assisting Virginians will not end with the end of Open Enrollment. Our navigators continue to help individuals resolve issues, file for exemptions, get health insurance tax documents, access Special Enrollment Periods, and provide health insurance education. We also recognize that many of those enrolled in Marketplace coverage are anxious about the future of the law. As changes occur, it will be important for those enrolled in Marketplace coverage to have access to unbiased information on how any changes could affect their and their family’s health coverage options.  We are committed providing the most up-to-date information on any changes and to working with anyone that may be affected by them.
