Tuesday, June 10th, 2014

Getting married?  Having a baby?  Moving?  If so, you may still be able to get quality private health insurance and financial help under the Affordable Care Act (ACA).  Even though open enrollment ended on March 31, certain changes in your life might allow you to sign up for low-cost health insurance through www.healthcare.gov and (800) 318-2596.

Check out this video from U.S. Department of Health and Human Services explaining your enrollment options

If you qualify for a special enrollment period, act quickly – you generally have only 60 days from the date of the “qualifying event” to enroll in health insurance.

Individuals who need assistance can call the statewide toll-free number (1-888-392-5132) or find a local office to make an appointment with a certified ENROLL Virginia! navigator. ENROLL Virginia! is a statewide effort led by the Virginia Poverty Law Center to educate all Virginians about the new health insurance marketplace and provide free, unbiased assistance with the new application and enrollment process.
