Published

Illegal fees, unsafe living conditions, and fear of retaliation keep too many Virginia renters from speaking up. In July, lawyers and housing advocates came together to change that—offering free, hands-on help to Richmond-area tenants determined to protect their homes.

Participants learned how to spot and challenge illegal charges, demand critical repairs, and connect with other renters united in defending their rights.

The Tenant Rights Legal Pop-Up was hosted by Virginia Poverty Law Center in partnership with Kelly Guzzo PLC, Legal Aid Justice Center, Wesley Memorial UMC, New Virginia Majority, and the Richmond Tenants Union.
