Marketplace Open Enrollment: What Virginians Need to Know

Published

Open Enrollment on Virginia’s Insurance Marketplace is underway through January 30, and VPLC’s Enroll Virginia program continues to offer free, unbiased enrollment assistance.

Without congressional action to extend enhanced premium tax credits, Marketplace premiums will rise sharply in 2026. The Virginia Bureau of Insurance reports a 20.5% increase for individual plans next year—forcing many families to choose higher-deductible plans or risk going uninsured.

Congress must act before year’s end to protect access to affordable coverage. With these changes ahead, Virginians should actively review their options and avoid auto-renewal.

Financial help is still available, though savings may be smaller than in previous years. Enroll Virginia’s trained navigators can help compare plans, check eligibility for assistance, and complete applications.
