40 Years, 40 Faces: Christine

Chesterfield, Virginia
As a little girl in Chesterfield, Christine experienced firsthand the foster care system. In high school, she advocated for foster youth and participated in the “Great Expectations” program there. Christine, 26, is employed in the Virginia social services system and can draw upon her own experience inside the foster care system. She is a VPLC board member, providing insight into our “Fostering Future” initiative and was instrumental in helping develop VPLC’s “Know Your Rights” booklet for children aging out.

“40 Years, 40 Faces” was a 2018 photography and storytelling project marking VPLC’s 40th anniversary. Photographer Glen McClure and writer Marshall McClure documented Virginians impacted by VPLC’s work, using portraits and interviews to highlight resilience, dignity, and the ongoing fight for justice.
