Litigation

VPLC uses the power of the court system to fight for low-income Virginians, holding both private corporations and the state accountable to ensure fairness and justice for all.

Fighting for Fairness and Accountability

At VPLC, litigation is a critical tool in our mission to protect the rights of low-income Virginians. We partner with private attorneys to hold business and government agencies accountable, ensuring they follow the law, act fairly, and meet their obligations to the people they serve. Virginians are often left to navigate powerful systems – lenders, utilities, and government agencies – without the protection they deserve. VPLC uses litigation to change that.

Whether it’s taking on internet lenders charging 500% interest, challenging unfair power shutoffs, or defending access to public benefits, our legal efforts aim to level the playing field and create lasting change for communities across the state.
